Christine Yao is a Brooklyn based painter working in oils, gouache, and watercolor along with various mixed media. Most of the work is either on linen or paper. She likes to paint mostly living things and is commonly attempting to find the fine line between overly realist and stylized abstraction in her representational work. She’s only lived by the water, near the Gulf of Mexico, Pacific Ocean and Atlantic Ocean, has an inexplicable fear of patterned cracks and overly-obsessive need to not waste anything.
